Adult Choir

  • The First Presbyterian Church Choir participates in the 10:45 service and is open to all interested singers. Music reading ability is appreciated but certainly not required. Most important is your desire to sing praise to God with other faithful people who are part of the choir. The director will be most happy to meet with you and help you improve your vocal skills or your music skills if you wish.

  • The choir is active from mid-August through the first Sunday of June, and takes a 10-week break during the summer months. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:05 to 8:20 (or 7:00 to 8:15 on evenings when there is no “Wednesdays at First Church” program.)

  • Each week the choir sings a call to worship, an anthem chosen in relation to the lectionary readings for that Sunday, and leads the singing of the appointed psalm following the first reading. Some weeks that is a responsorial psalm, with the choir chanting the text and the congregation singing a refrain. In other weeks, the congregation joins the choir in singing from the hymnal a metrical paraphrase of the psalm.
